Playing
How do I play split screen?
Up to four people can play on one screen. Connect another controller and press its bottom face button or Start on Home, Play, Custom match, Results or Pause. That player joins with their own view.
Want the keyboard and a controller to be two players? Turn on Keyboard plays separately on player one’s card.
Does it work with a controller?
Yes, for play and every menu. Prompts show your controller’s own buttons, and every action can be remapped in Settings. If a controller disconnects in the middle of a match, the game pauses.
How do the touch controls work?
Left thumb moves and right thumb looks. Hold the action pad and drag to aim. In Settings, on the Touch tab, you can resize the pads, flip them for left hands, and set aim assist and haptics. See the controls.
The flashing lights bother me.
Turn on Calm Lights in the bar at the bottom of the menu. It holds the lights, meters and mirrorball still without hiding anything you need to play. Even with it off, the lights pump no more than three times a second.
Can I play my own music?
On a computer, put MP3 or WAV files in Documents/Non-Euclidean Neon Arena/Custom Music and choose them in Soundtracks. Your songs stay on your device and are never sent to other players or to us.
Theater
How do I save a replay or video?
Open Club → Theater, or choose Theater or Save film from Results. Recent keeps the last 25 finished matches; save a film to keep it. Choose a robot's eyes, chase, free, ball or Director camera. You can cut clips and take screenshots; Windows can also render 1080p MP4 video with sound.
Steam parties can watch a film together. To stop recording future matches, switch off Record films in Settings. Shared film exports are in Documents/Neon Arena/Films.
Online
How do I play with friends online?
Open Multiplayer. On Steam, host a game and invite your Steam friends. Anywhere, games on your local network appear in the list by themselves.
My friend can’t see my game.
Check you both have the same version: each room says Compatible game when it can be joined. For a local network game, be on the same network. Internet games currently use Steam; check both players are signed in to Steam.
Someone dropped out of our match.
If a player’s connection drops in the middle of a match, their seat and score are held for a minute. When they join the same room again, they carry on where they were.
Saves and data
Where are my robots and progress saved?
On your own device: settings, robots, Career and device settings. Theater films are kept in the Films folder beside those saves.
Windows: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\KSavill\Non-Euclidean Neon Arena
Mac, Steam version: ~/Library/Application Support/KSavill/Non-Euclidean Neon Arena
In mobile development builds, saves are inside the app. Mobile store releases are not yet confirmed.
What are crash reports?
In releases configured for crash reporting, if the game crashes and Send crash reports is on, it sends us a technical report so we can fix the bug. It is on unless you turn it off in Settings; then nothing is sent. The privacy policy lists exactly what a report contains.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the save folder above, or delete the app on iPhone and iPad, and the game starts fresh. To ask us to delete a crash report, email us with roughly when the crash happened.
